Cuddapah city or Kadapa is the headquarters of YSR District. The administration of Cuddapah is handled by the Municipal Corporation and the Collectorate jointly. The Municipal Corporation in Kadapa is the largest municipal corporation in the Rayalaseema region. The city is well connected with the remaining districts in Rayalseema as it is in the centre of the region.

Kadapa Municipal Corporation
The municipal Corporation of Kadapa was previously a municipal council which has been converted to a corporation in 2005. It is the largest Municipality in Rayalaseema region in terms of area (164 Sq.Km) under its administration. The council was initially constituted as a municipality in 1868. The present Commissioner of The Municipal Corporation of Kadapa is Mr. D. John Samson. In the year 2010-2011, Cuddapah Municipal Corporation has issued a 72.2 Crore Rupee amount to improve Sewage systems; 29.23 Crores for water supply improvements

Collectorate of Kadapa

Kadapa Prison is one the Seven Central Jails in the state for Andhra Pradesh. These Central jails are comparatively larger than other jails like the sub jails and the district jails. Generally convicts who are sentenced to more than two years of imprisonment are accommodated in these central jails.
Recently, Kadapa Prison has been a place where the Indian Oil Corporation has entered into an memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the government to setup a state of the art retail gas filling station. This station is to be operated by the prisoners of the Kadapa Central jail.
